The 14th edition of the Music in Nineteenth-Century Britain conference celebrates the vitality and diversity of music-making across Britain and the British Empire in whatever form it took and wherever it was found, exploring its aesthetic dimensions alongside its meaning for contemporaries, its place in the global market, and its use in the promotion of political and social agendas. Excursion to Harewood House on Day Three (30th): £21 per person (accompanying persons are welcome at the same rate).  This will include coach transportation from the University to Harewood and back, plus tickets to Harewood House & Grounds and the Austen-Turner Exhibition.  (Cafés on the Harewood Estate will be open for lunch, but this is not included.)  Journey time: approximately 40mins. Conference Dinner at the National Centre for Early Music on Day Three (30th): £50 (includes drinks reception; drinks for the table will need to be purchased from the bar).
